Virginia Governor-elect Bob McDonnell has announced that Jim Duffey will be his nominee for Secretary of Technology. Duffey, President and CEO of Duff Consulting, worked for 24 years at EDS Corp., where he held a variety of positions in the United States and Europe, including three years as corporate Vice President and public-sector general manager, responsible for EDS’ state and local, federal, civilian, military and Medicare clients.
Mr. Duffey’s first task will be the overhaul of the state’s $2.2 billion IT outsourcing contract with Northrop Grumman. He has a history of turning huge, troubled projects into successes, notably the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet which he oversaw while at EDS, and his predecessors agree that his skills will serve the commonwealth well.
“Jim faces a number of immediate challenges that he will need to tackle as Virginia’s next Secretary of Technology, but I can’t think of a more capable individual to fill this role. Jim brings to the position a wealth of experience and talent, and the Commonwealth of Virginia will be enriched by his service.”
- Eugene Huang, National Broadband Task Force and former VA Secretary of Technology
“I knew Jim well during his leadership at NVTC and at EDS. He joined a tech delegation we arranged to promote economic development along Virginia’s Southside which was very productive. He is a terrific choice”-Aneesh Chopra, Federal CTO
